Punjab empowers itself to appoint DGP

The DGP - shortlisted through an empanelment committee - will have a fixed tenure of two years but if he is relieved early due to specified reasons, the state can give the additional charge to another officer. With no time limit for the additional charge, the government holds the power to appoint officer of his choice on the post.
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੀਤਖੇੜੀ ਲਿੰਕ ਸੜਕ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇਨਿਯਮੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਠੇਕੇਦਾਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕਾਰਨ ਦੱਸੋ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਦਾਇਗੀਆਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਤਿੰਨ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਅਧੀਨ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੋ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਸੜਕ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਖ਼ਾਮੀ ਪਾਈ ਗਈ।
ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਖੰਭਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਲਟਕ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਗੈਰ-ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਤਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜ਼ੀਰੋ ਟਾਲਰੈਂਸ ਨੀਤੀ- ਮੇਅਰ ਕੁੰਦਨ ਗੋਗੀਆ
