Flood leaves trail of destruction in Ropar

The flooding due to incessant rain has left a trail of destruction with loss of life, breaches in banks of rivers and canals, damage to roads, uprooting of hundreds of electricity poles and cracks in a large number of houses in more than 350 affected villages.
The authorities said the exact picture of damage to infrastructure and losses suffered by people would be known only in a few days as the officials concerned started a survey only yesterday.
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੀਤਖੇੜੀ ਲਿੰਕ ਸੜਕ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੇਨਿਯਮੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਠੇਕੇਦਾਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕਾਰਨ ਦੱਸੋ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਦਾਇਗੀਆਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਤਿੰਨ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਅਧੀਨ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੋ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਸੜਕ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਖ਼ਾਮੀ ਪਾਈ ਗਈ।
ਕਾਰਪੋਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਖੰਭਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਲਟਕ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਗੈਰ-ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਤਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜ਼ੀਰੋ ਟਾਲਰੈਂਸ ਨੀਤੀ- ਮੇਅਰ ਕੁੰਦਨ ਗੋਗੀਆ
